Ecological Restoration Tours at Blackburn Lake Nature Reserve

Join ecologist Chris Drake of Coast Alive Stewardship Services this summer at Blackburn Lake Nature Reserve! You will learn about: How this nature reserve was once a golf course and has since been stewarded into a productive and vibrant wetland and forest. Restoring a variety of ecosystem types including wetlands and Garry oak meadows Successfully controlling invasive species Propagating and growing native plants Protecting native plants from deer Reducing wildfire risk, including information on fire-resistant & drought-tolerant plants Enhancing wildlife habitat – birds, bats, frogs, beavers and beyond! Wildlife habitat supplies will be available for purchase by Coast Alive Stewardship Service Nesting boxes for local birds Bird baths and mini-ponds Wire cages to protect trees and shru
