Join artist Cheryl Long for an Artist Talk as part of Artcraft Showcase 3: Ordinary Exaltation, featuring Cheryl Long and Laura Keil. Cheryl’s recent body of work explores the mystery, spirit, and living presence of the natural world. Moving between landscape and dreamscape, her oil paintings reach beyond physical appearances to consider the energetic, emotional, and spiritual dimensions she senses in nature. In this talk, Cheryl will share more about her process, influences, and the ideas behind this new body of work, including her interest in painting as a way of entering into deeper relationship with landscape, form, and the unseen. Join artists Margo and Dan Zak for an Artist Talk about Seascape from Reality, their collaborative showcase exhibition exploring the ocean landscape through ceramics and painting. Together, Margo and Dan will speak about the coastal environments that have shaped this new body of work, including Salt Spring Island, Vancouver Island, and Tofino. The talk will offer insight into their shared creative life, their individual approaches to material and form, and the ways this exhibition marks a departure from their regular practices. Through Dan’s expansive seascapes and Margo’s biomorphic ceramic vessels, Seascape from Reality reflects on the water’s edge as a place of observation, healing, experimentation, and renewal.
