Poiesis String Quarter

Friday, Oct 237:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.In person

Winner of the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition. Derived from ancient Greek, the word Poiesis means ‘to make’; specifically, to create something that has never existed before. New York-based Poiesis live up to their name: youthful and shaking up pre-conceptions of a traditional string quartet, they remain under-the-radar for many but are incredibly talented in a way that’s making the music world sit up and take notice. With a focus on expanding the string quartet repertoire with vibrant new works by emerging composers, the Poiesis Quartet infuses each performance with unique moments of synchronicity and verve. Winners of the 2026 Cleveland Quartet Award, the 2025 St. Lawrence Emerging String Quartet in Residence at Stanford University, and Gold Medal and BIPOC Prize winners at the 2023 St. Paul String Quartet Competition, Poiesis was selected as the only North American ensemble to compete in the prestigious 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition, which they went on to win. Thank you to Paula Palyga and David Demers, and Deb and Mark Toole, for sponsoring this performance. Fri Oct 23 | 7:30pm | Adult $45, Youth $10 Tickets available: For members, in pe ($10 – $45)
