Canada has always been a country of competing identities, regional priorities, and political differences. But today, these tensions feel stronger than before. Many Canadians are asking a difficult question: What holds us together—and what could pull us apart? Few people have been closer to these debates than Jason Kenney . A former Premier of Alberta and federal cabinet minister with portfolios over immigration, employment, and defence, Kenney has spent more than 25 years at the centre of Canadian politics. He has shaped national immigration policy, negotiated intergovernmental relationships, and led Canada’s most resource-dependent province through periods of profound economic and political change. Some Salt Spring Islanders will disagree with Jason Kenney ’s politics. But agree with him or not, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of Canada’s most influential conservative voices about one of the most important questions: Where does Canada go from here? $20 Members | $25 Public | Youth 19 and Under $5 November 15, 3:00pm BUY TICKETS ($5 – $25)

The deepest reaches of our oceans are among the least explored places on Earth. Yet they have become the location of an international race for essential minerals. As governments and corporations push to mine the deep seabed, a fundamental question has emerged: Who will determine the fate of the world’s oceans? For Coalter Lathrop, that question is not just about the oceans—it’s about the future of the international order itself. A world-leading international lawyer and marine cartographer, Lathrop advises governments and international organizations on the world’s most complex ocean and territorial disputes. He is the perfect person to help us understand the complex dynamics involved in the current conflict over seabed resources. For many of us who live beside the Pacific Ocean, this issue is deeply personal. It’s about the future of our shared planet—and whether the rules that have governed our oceans for generations can withstand the pressures of a fast-changing world. $20 Members | $25 Public | Youth 19 and Under $5 Dec 6, 3:00pm BUY TICKETS ($5 – $25)

We are truly excited by this performance and immersive week, after our artistic programmer met Nicole Rose Bond during a residency here on Salt Spring and knew he wanted to see her perform on the ArtSpring stage. Dancestors is a ritual of celebration, grief, acknowledgement, and hope. A mid-career modern dance artist, Nicole will perform a solo show based on her friendships with four great Canadian choreographers: Susan Cash, Danny Grossman, Patricia Beatty, and Peggy Baker. Reciting a letter of remembrance and gratitude, then performing a solo from each, Nicole pays respect to the guidance, generosity, and wisdom of those who came before her, and on whose shoulders she graciously stands. The final work is performed with live piano by Youngsin Choi, supporting Nicole in remembering what was, and joining her in looking forward to what is to come. Nicole will spend a week in residence, which will include community workshops, a film screening and more - stay tuned for details. Thank you to Sandra Heath for sponsoring this performance.
